Early life
Chen Muchi (Luke), born on March 4, 1997, in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. His grandfather was a soldier from Ankang, Shaanxi.Chen Muchi liked watching movies since he was a child. In his spare time, he often went to the cinema alone. He liked dramas. The fate of the characters in the plays often aroused his thinking. Unknowingly, he also developed a desire for the profession of an actor.In 2014, Chen Muchi joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army and was discharged in 2016. Later, by chance, he saw the interview notice for the movie series "Fengshen Trilogy" (封神三部曲). Because the interview conditions were quite broad, Chen Muchi plucked up the courage to try, but he did not expect to be selected. After a successful interview, he successfully entered the film crew, which was the first real contact with filming for him.
Career
2017-2019
In February 2017, the move series Fengshen Triology announced the recruitment of young actors and actresses for the three-part project. The crew selected 1,400 people from 15,000 people to be personally interviewed by the director, and Chen Muchi was one of more than 20 young actors selected to enter the training camp, called Fengshen Performing Arts Training Camp.
Newcomer actors have received 24 weeks of professional training (from Jan 02, 2018 to July 15, 2018). During the 24 weeks, there will be no less than 12 hours of closed courses per day, from 5 a.m to 9 p.m, 6 days a week, from performance, fighting, equestrianism, ancient music, traditional culture, film analysis and body shaping training. At the end, 16 were chosen, and Chen Muchi was one of the 6 who get to play important roles in the movie.
The filming of Fengshen Triology (all 3 parts) lasted 18 months, from Sep 05, 2018 to June, 2019.
In 2018, he signed contract with Jiaxing Media, but later left the company.2019-2020
He filmed a small roles in Medal of the Republic (功勋), a production to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.
In May 20, 2020, he announced on his official Weibo the change of stage name from Hailiang to Chen Muchi.2021-2022
At the beginning of 2021, there were rumours about the casting of the TV series Guardians of the Lands, adapted from danmei novel Shan He Biao Li (山河表里) with Chen Xingxu playing the roles of Chu Huan and Chen Muchi playing the roles of Nan Shan. The rumour was essentially confirmed in Feb 11th, 2021, when Chen Muchi posted a Weibo status with quotes from the novel. According to the director, aside from Chen Xingxu who was casted since late 2020, the casting process for Guardians of the Lands lasted 4 months, with more then 1000 people attended.
